KOREAN CINEMA – Analyzing, Tooling, Writing
In recent years, Korean cinema has taken global audiences by storm, winning Oscars, dominating streaming platforms, and telling stories that feel both local and universally gripping.
Films like Parasite, Decision to Leave, Burning, and Train to Busan don’t just tell stories, they shift tone mid-scene, bend genres, and pull us into worlds where tension, humor, and discomfort coexist.
In this workshop, we dive into storytelling techniques behind some of the most influential Korean films, some well known, some hidden gems you only find by nerding yourself into Korean cinema.
Together, we explore what makes these films so intense, surprising, and structurally bold.
We move from analysis into practice. We analyze, extract storytelling tools, and use them right away in creative exercises, developing our own scenes, characters, or story ideas inspired by the courage of Korean cinema.
The workshop is open to anyone interested in storytelling, writers, filmmakers, other creatives. No prior knowledge needed, just curiosity and a willingness to look closely and experiment.
